The restraint system in the BMW X3.

The safety belts are fitted with force limiters and tensioners with electronically controlled pyrotechnic actuators. In the event of a collision, the tensioner tightens the seatbelts in a fraction of a second for greater restraint. The seatbelts also prevent "submarining", when passengers slide abruptly underneath the lap strap in an impact. The rear seat offers three headrests and three automatic seatbelts as standard.
